2014 Board of Directors Election

The Internet belongs to all of us, and impacts every aspect of our lives.

At CIRA, we believe that Canadians have both the right to be informed about how the Internet develops, and a responsibility to act on it. Whether you use the Internet for work or play, you can influence the future development and direction of the Internet in Canada.

CIRA’s Board of Directors plays a direct role in developing strategy and policy for the .CA domain. Our work impacts everything from the security of our online interactions to the strength of our digital economy.

CIRA now, more than ever, represents Canadians – and Canadian values – online.

The results are in!

A total of 706 .CA Members voted in this year’s Board of Directors election.

.CA Members voted to elect three directors from the final Nomination Committee slate and one director from the final Member’s slate.

The following four candidates were elected, each for a three-year term:

Kerry Brown, 297 votes
Susan Mehinagic, 293 votes
Faye West, 259 votes

Members' Slate
Andrew Escobar, 205 votes

By joining CIRA’s Board of Directors, you can have a direct impact on the day-to-day lives of Canadians by developing strategy and policy for the .CA domain, supporting innovation online through the Community Investment Program, and much more.

Canadians with governance experience and an interest in supporting the development of the Internet in Canada can nominate themselves to be a candidate on the Nomination Committee slate of the Board of Directors election.

By joining CIRA's Board of Directors, you will have a direct impact on the day-to-day lives of Canadians by developing strategy and policy for the .CA domain, supporting innovation online through the Community Investment Program, and much more. .CA Members with governance experience and an interest in supporting the development of the Internet in Canada can nominate themselves to be a candidate.

Important: You must be .CA Member to nominate yourself in this round of nominations. To do so, make sure to have your Member ID handy when completing the application. To locate your .CA Member ID, simply login to your profile on the .CA Member website.

Have a preferred nominee? This is your chance to help them get on the list of final candidates for the 2014 Board of Directors election. CA Members can show their support for Member nominees in this stage of the Board of Directors election. Member nominees must receive 20 show of support to be included on the final Member slate of candidates.

Participating in the Campaign Forum gives you a chance to ask questions to the candidates in the 2014 Board of Directors Election. Getting to know the candidates will help you make an informed decision when voting for the leaders of an organization that now, more than ever, represents Canadians – and Canadian values – online.

IMPORTANT! As per CIRA's Bylaws and the recently updated Canada Not-for-Profit Corporations Act, this year to be eligible to vote .CA holders must be Members before the end of the day on August 27, 2014 (21 days before the start of the voting period), and remain an active Member at the time they cast their vote.
