Election Process


About the CIRA Election

Each year, CIRA holds an election to fill vacant seats on its Board of Directors. The formation of the Nomination Committee is the first step towards the election of new Directors by .CA Members.

January Application period

Individuals interested in serving on CIRA's Nomination Committee can apply online.

February Selection and announcement

CIRA's Board of Directors selects the new members of its Nomination Committee. The names of the new members are announced on CIRA's website.

May to June Application period

Individuals interested in becoming candidates for election to CIRA's Board of Directors can apply through CIRA's election website.

July Selection and announcement

Candidates whose names will appear on the final slate of candidates are selected by the Nomination Committee. The candidates' names, platform statements, and answers to mandatory questions are posted on CIRA's election website.

August Nomination and Application period and announcement of nominees

CIRA Members can nominate individuals interested in becoming candidates for election to CIRA's Board of Directors through CIRA's election website.

Once nominated, nominees must complete the nomination process by submitting an application form through CIRA's election website.

August to September Members endorse nominees

Nominees' names, platform statements, and answers to mandatory questions are posted on CIRA's election website.

A nominee must receive at least 20 shows of support from members through CIRA's election web site to become a candidate on the final slate.

September Announcement of final candidates

The final list of Nomination Committee and Member candidates is posted on CIRA's election website.

September Members cast votes

CIRA Members can cast votes over a seven-day period through CIRA's election website.

October Announcement of directors

Vote results are posted on CIRA's election website no later than seven days after the close of the polls.
