Board of Directors Election

I am honoured and excited to submit my candidacy for the Board of Directors. As a passionate, engaged and trustworthy leader with over 20 years of experiences in not-for-profit organizations, I can offer valuable insights and strategic guidance to the board.

Building a better online experience for all Canadian motivates me to join CIRA's. I am confident that my strategic thinking, relationship building skills and my ability to put ideas into actions, will help shape the future of the organization by focusing on member's satisfaction, enhancing safe, reliable and secure services.

As an electrical engineer with 40 years in IT technology application in both the private and public sector, I believe that I have the experience base and the passion for how the Internet shapes our society, which are both required to make a positive contribution to CIRA's Board.

I have in depth experience working in both the public and private sector as it relates specifically to the telecommunications & information technology industry. I've participated through the full life cycle within multiple start ups. Experience in raising money ($18 million at Critical Telecom), multiple acquisitions (Cisco acquiring Pixstream), & IPOs & back to PE (Sandvine). I've also had the pleasure to serve the public sector for the first 9 years of my career at Industry Canada and the Department of Communications.

For the last three years I have proudly served on the CIRA Board of Directors and I am the co-Chair of the Community Investment Program. During my first term on the Board I have supported the organization in the development of the new Strategic Plan and led the evolution of the strategy for the Community Investment Program.

As a technology enthusiast my entire life, it has been my distinct honour and privilege to sit on the CIRA Board of Directors. The past three years have been immensely rewarding, and I feel that I have contributed significantly to the organization. I have built my professional career applying my passion for the Internet, software and technology in general to the legal, technological and governance problems facing (and opportunities presented to) my clients and my firm, and I have thoroughly enjoyed applying those skills for CIRA's benefit.

Andrew has served on the CIRA Board of Directors since 2011. He has chaired the Finance, Audit, Investment and Risk Committee since 2017.

He holds the Institute of Corporate Directors' professional designation and is completing his MBA at the University of Toronto.

The Internet Revolution is far from over. Governing Canada's contribution to this global phenomenon is a critical job that requires soliciting input from a diverse set of stakeholders across Canadian society.

Within the larger scope of all Canadian stakeholders, I believe it's vitally important for small businesses and individual domain name owners to be faithfully represented when forming policies which govern the Canadian Internet.

Hello CIRA members, I am a recently retired Federal civil servant who is anxious to continue promoting Canada in a different capacity. I am new to CIRA, but am excited to bring my vision to the table. I have a solid background in Information Technology and Business that will position me to contribute to CIRA on multiple levels. My four years of experience in governance have enlightened me to the fact that Boards today operate in an increasingly complex environment.
