Tips on shopping local

  1. Stay safe - follow all public health guidelines if you're shopping in person or picking up items.
  2. Read shipping details - like where places ship from and to,  deadlines, etc. Many sites have a dedicated shipping info page especially due to changes from the pandemic.
  3. Research how and where products are made - if purchasing Canadian-made goods is important to you, always be sure to read product details.
  4. Read "About Us" pages - learn the story behind how and why the business started, who's running it and what causes they support.

About this guide

As the .CA domain registry for Canada, we are proud to support and share the stories of the Canadian businesses who have chosen .CA to represent their brand.

For the past few years, we've been putting together a gift guide for Canadians, listing .CA websites that either sell Canadian-made products or unique gift ideas for Canadians. This year, we wanted the gift guide to be bigger and better, because it has never been more important to support local, independent businesses over "the big guys". With the anticipated increase in online shopping due to the pandemic, we wanted to share a variety of unique and creative businesses across the country.

Know of a .CA business (or own one) that should be on this list? Please share it with us!

CIRA is a not-for-profit organization and proceeds from .CA registrations and renewals give back to the Canadian internet community - learn more.
