CIRA supports and invests in projects improving Canada’s internet. Here are three of our main initiatives:
Internet Exchange Points are hubs where independent networks can interconnect directly to one another, providing high-bandwidth and low-latency access at a lower cost than traditional transit. Doing this improves internet speed and efficiency and ensures data stays within Canada.
Our Internet Performance Test is a quick and easy internet connection test anyone can do at home or at work, intended to provide data for researchers to better understand and improve the Canadian internet.
CIRA is an active partner and participant in the Canadian Internet Governance Forum, which brings together some of Canada’s leaders for a national discussion on key issues affecting access to, and the safety, privacy and security of, the Canadian internet.
