OTTAWA, ON – March 4, 2021.  CIRA’s 2021 board of directors election process begins today at 2 p.m. (ET) with the call for applications to the nomination committee. The nomination committee’s role is to seek and select qualified candidates for the nomination committee slate of CIRA’s board of directors election.

Online voting for election candidates will begin at CIRA’s annual general meeting (AGM) on September 23, 2021 in Ottawa and will run until September 30, 2021. This year, CIRA members will elect four board members.

The board plays a direct role in developing strategy and policy for CIRA’s .CA domain and cybersecurity business lines. They also play a role in shaping how CIRA gives back to the community through the Community Investment Program

CIRA is looking for Canadians who:

  • Understand the experiences of a diverse range of industry sectors,
  • Have governance experience (mandatory),
  • Have experience identifying and selecting superior candidates, and
  • Are interested in supporting the development of the internet in Canada.

The focus of the nomination committee is to help build a board of directors that represents a wide range of views and interests.

The deadline to submit applications for the nomination committee is March 18, 2021.

All CIRA members will be invited by email to vote and attend the AGM in September. For more information on the election process, visit our website at www.cira.ca/election.
