CIRA plays a unique role in Canada’s digital ecosystem. As steward of the .CA domain, it helps maintain a trusted Canadian internet while also delivering registry services, cybersecurity solutions, internet performance initiatives, and public-interest programs that strengthen Canada’s digital future.

What attracts me to CIRA is the combination of mission and complexity. CIRA operates at the intersection of critical internet infrastructure, cybersecurity, public policy, and commercial growth. It must balance member interests, public trust, operational resilience, and long-term strategic sustainability.

My interest in serving on the Board stems from a belief that trusted digital infrastructure will become increasingly important as cyber threats, AI adoption, and geopolitical pressures continue to evolve. I believe my experience in cybersecurity, governance, enterprise risk, and technology strategy would allow me to contribute meaningfully to Board discussions while helping CIRA continue to deliver value to its members and to Canadians more broadly.

As Vice Chair of the ISC2 Board of Directors, I led the creation of the Governance Committee from the ground up, serving as its inaugural Chair. The mandate was to strengthen ISC2’s governance framework and build the structures, capabilities, and culture of continuous improvement needed to govern a large global organization through a period of rapid change.

In practice, this meant establishing governance processes, director development programs, board assessment mechanisms, and oversight practices designed to keep pace with the evolving demands created by AI, cybersecurity risk, geopolitical complexity, and changes in the global credentialing landscape.

This work coincided with a CEO transition at ISC2, a critical governance moment for any organization. Working closely with the Board Chair, I helped ensure the transition was managed with clear processes, appropriate oversight, and strong governance discipline.

The result was a more mature governance framework, improved board effectiveness, and a stronger foundation for strategic oversight during a period of significant organizational change. That experience reinforced my belief that strong governance is not a constraint on organizational ambition. It is what enables it.

Over the next three to five years, I believe CIRA will face three interconnected priorities: successfully scaling its registry services business internationally, maintaining trust and resilience in critical internet infrastructure, and navigating the growing impact of cybersecurity, AI, and digital policy on the internet ecosystem.

My professional experience aligns closely with these challenges. As CEO of a cybersecurity and governance company, I work daily with organizations managing technology risk, regulatory change, AI governance, and digital transformation. As a board director, I have experience overseeing strategy, governance, audit, and enterprise risk in both nonprofit and private-sector organizations.

I would bring a perspective that combines technology expertise with governance discipline. My focus would be on helping the Board oversee risk, support management’s growth objectives, and ensure that CIRA continues to balance commercial success with its broader public-interest mission.

Most importantly, I understand that the Board’s role is not to operate the organization, but to provide effective oversight, stewardship, and strategic guidance that supports both CIRA’s long-term success and the trust Canadians place in it.
