CIRA’s Indigenous stock photo library is a free-to-use resource created with the purpose of honouring Indigenous entrepreneurship and addressing the Indigenous representation gap in most online stock images.
While you might associate stock photography with stiffly posed models in cold corporate settings—our collection of photos looks to change that. All images were captured by Indigenous photographer Shelby Lisk, on-location at Indigenous-owned locations with a cast of Indigenous models.

About the project
The Indigenous economy is surging in Canada. Despite this, Indigenous representation in online stock photography is few and far between. As part of our mission to build a trusted internet in Canada, we launched the CIRA Indigenous stock photo library to help break down digital barriers for Indigenous representation and spotlight the creativity of Indigenous talent.
To authentically represent Indigenous Peoples in this collection, CIRA leaned on Indigenous partners both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. CIRA shot on-location at three Indigenous-owned .CA locations: Adaawe, Beandigen Café and Mādahòkì Farm. CIRA also consulted with Pow Wow Pitch, a grassroots community by and for Indigenous entrepreneurs.
