THE PROJECT
Cowichan Green Community Society (CGC) is a non-profit community hub for improving environmental sustainability and food security in the Cowichan Region. They developed a website to host the Food Recovery Online Tool to connect businesses with surplus food to organizations providing food to those in need, diverting it from landfills.
COMMUNITY IMPACT
Within the first year, the project recovered more than 100,00 pounds of food worth over $250,000, which went to feeding people within the community.
