THE PROJECT

Researchers at the Université du Québec à Montréal-Centre d’études sur l’intégration et la mondialisation aimed to study perceptions and practices regarding the distribution/promotion and consumption of Canadian French-language content on the internet, with the goal of making Francophone musical and audiovisual products more accessible online. Approximately 100 participants were surveyed and participated in workshops.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

The study analyzed the discoverability of cultural products on major digital platforms, while developing a measurement method to empirically document the situation and identify barriers. The results highlighted the weak presence of Francophone content online, presenting a potential threat to Quebec’s cultural identity.
