THE PROJECT
The Mamawapowin Community Network project increased connectivity to Samson Cree Nation along with enabling Mamawapowin Technology Society (services now operated by Smoke Signal Communications) to create a community technology hub for learning.
COMMUNTIY IMPACT
Not only was Samson Cree Nation’s connectivity successfully expanded, but much needed connectivity was brought to Maskwacis Cultural College during the pandemic, the new network was expanded to cover part of Ermineskin Cree Nation, and connectivity efforts of both Kehewin First Nation and Saddle Lake First Nation were supported. Improved connectivity helped bridge the digital divide and strengthened relationships between the four Nations and five communities in the area.
