THE PROJECT

Yukon Learn Society provides adults based in Yukon Territory with services and support to realize their full potential in nine essential skills: reading, writing, numeracy, digital literacy, document use, working with others, oral communication, thinking and continuous learning. Thanks to a CIRA grant, this project created tutoring and educational frameworks to reach at-risk seniors and improved their ability to use the internet and digital devices safely, substantially enriching the quality of their lives.

COMMUNITY IMPACT

Seniors in the Indigenous community of Tagish received training in person weekly throughout the program, with rates of senior participation within the hamlet greatly exceeding expectations. One senior expressed that the program was a wonderful lifeline, with the overall result that seniors are able to meaningfully connect with others and to participate in the growing digital landscape.
