On November 4, I appeared before Senators studying Bill C-26, An Act Respecting Cyber Security, at the Senate Standing Committee on National Security, Defence and Veterans’ Affairs (SECD).
I presented CIRA’s support for the objectives of Bill C-26 and offered two constructive recommendations to strengthen Part II of the Bill, the Critical Cyber Systems Protection Act. We believe our proposals to strengthen the Bill’s oversight and information-sharing provisions will help foster Canadians’ and critical infrastructure operator’s trust in the proposed framework. I also answered questions about how we keep the .CA domain safe and shared other cybersecurity best practices during my appearance, which you can see in the video below.
