OTTAWA – June 6, 2016 – The Canadian Internet Registration Authority’s (CIRA) nomination committee is seeking dynamic individuals with an interest in advancing the Internet in Canada to join its board of directors.

Becoming a CIRA board director is a unique opportunity to work with Canada’s Internet leaders as they develop strategy and policy for .CA. The skills, experience and expertise Board members bring to the table will help guide CIRA as it fulfills its mandate to manage the .CA domain as a key public resource for the benefit of all Canadians.

The committee is looking for Canadians with governance experience and an interest in supporting the development of the Internet in Canada. Expertise in one of the following areas would be an asset: finance, accounting and auditing; investment management and performance oversight; and relevant industry sectors (domain name industry and internet infrastructure experience).

The nomination committee will review applications and will select up to nine candidates who will appear on the final election slate. Candidates will then be elected to fill three nomination committee seats during the final CIRA Member vote in September.

Interested individuals can submit their application to the Nomination Committee starting today. The application deadline is June 20, 2016 at 2 p.m. ET.
