CIRA partners with Akamai, the market leader of DNS-based security solutions with recursive servers in large ISPs, to enable to CIRA Canadian Shield service. Akamai provides technology to operate a resilient DNS service and a threat feed that is derived from evaluating more than 100 billion DNS queries per day around the world.
By taking advantage of our infrastructure in Canada to deploy a cloud-based service powered by Akamai, and to add additional features on top of that infrastructure, CIRA is able to bring deliver CIRA Canadian Shield cost-effectively. Just as important, it allows us to ensure that the Canadian-focused service that keeps all DNS query data in Canada for data sovereignty purposes.
Canadian Center for Cybersecurity
The Canadian Centre for Cyber Security (CCCS) leads the government’s response to cyber security events. They work to protect and defend the country’s valuable cyber assets. We work side-by-side with the private and public sectors to solve Canada’s most complex cyber issues.
The CCCS shares enhanced cyber threat information in order to help strengthen Canada’s resiliency against cyber threats. This threat information includes Indicators of Compromise (IoCs) derived from many sources such as Canadian cyber incidents, malware analysis and strategic partnerships. All indicators are validated before being shared in order to maintain a high quality.
CIRA is also setting up infrastructure to enable partners, like the CCCS to receive threat data derived from our services for further analysis that improves Canadian cybersecurity. Importantly, no personally identifiable information (PII) of any kind is transmitted back to the Canadian Centre for Cyber Security.
