As part of our mission to build a trusted internet for all Canadians, CIRA takes domain name abuse seriously. When a domain name is suspected of being involved in abuse, CIRA will investigate the domain name using its RIV process and will suspend the domain name after one day (instead of the standard 21 business days) if the Registrant does not respond or provide supporting documentation. This expedited process helps reduce potential harm by enabling faster action against suspected domain abuse.

Individuals and businesses that meet CIRA’s Canadian Presence Requirements (CPR) can obtain quick, out-of-court arbitrations at relatively low cost for clear-cut cases of bad faith registration of .CA domain names.
