By Julie Lépine
Manager, Membership Relations

As a purpose-driven not-for-profit corporation, CIRA’s core mandate is to build a trusted internet for Canadians. CIRA connects, protects and engages the internet community in Canada and beyond by ensuring the stewardship of the .CA domain, providing high-quality registry, DNS and cybersecurity services—along with being an actively engaged supporter of the global internet community. CIRA is governed by a board of directors, who play a role in guiding the organization by providing strategic direction and oversight to CIRA and to act in the best interest of the corporation as we fulfill our mandate.

CIRA’s board of directors includes twelve directors elected by CIRA members and three non-voting advisors.

Who they are:
CIRA’s board directors are professionals from across Canada with diverse skills and experience needed to achieve a functional, high-performing and balanced board. Learn more about their professional backgrounds, the slate from which they were elected, their term of office and their roles on the board and working committees.

Their work:
As part of their work, board members are expected to serve on committees and attend board meetings regularly. They also agree to a Board Charter to ensure a shared understanding of governance and their roles and responsibilities. To keep up to date on the board and committees’ detailed work, read through their meeting minutes and agendas.

Compensation:
Only elected board directors are compensated. They are paid to recognize the time, effort and dedication needed to perform their duties.  Learn about board compensation and how much directors are paid for their work.
